The new GPS MAP 76S includes all of the features of the GPS MAP76 plus a barometric altimeter and an electronic compass for more accurate elevations and the ability to measure compass bearings when you are not moving. This unit also contains a basemap of North and South America, including major highways, roads, rivers, lakes and borders, plus 24 MB of memory for downloading MapSource data from Garmin's MapSource CD ROMs. The GPS MAP 76S is designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). It can store up to 500 waypoints and operates up to 16 hours using two "AA" batteries. It has a waterproof case and floats! The unit includes PC cable and wrist strap.
